Upon arrival in Savonlinna — a charming lakeside town on Lake Saimaa, Finland’s largest lake system — your family is met by a private transfer and taken to your family-friendly hotel. After check-in and some time to relax, enjoy a gentle walk along the harbour looking out over the calm blue waters and forest-framed islands. In the evening, gather together for a relaxed lakeside dinner where you’ll meet your guides, receive an outline of the week ahead, and enjoy your first taste of Finnish lakeside cuisine.

Day 2 – Saimaa Lake Cruise & Wildlife Discovery

After breakfast, embark on a family-friendly scenic cruise around Lake Saimaa, where wide waters and tree-covered islands create a tranquil setting perfect for all ages. This cruise offers views over Saimaa’s vast waterways and an introduction to the region’s natural ecosystem — including the chance to learn about the rare Saimaa ringed seal, one of the lake’s most iconic inhabitants. Return to Savonlinna in the afternoon for free time to explore the town’s pedestrian streets, harbour cafés, and boat watching.

Day 3 – Forest Nature Trail & Picnic

Following breakfast, head out for a guided nature trail walk through the forests surrounding Lake Saimaa. These easy-to-follow trails are ideal for families, offering opportunities for kids to explore, learn about local plants and wildlife, and enjoy fresh Nordic air. Midway, gather for a lakeside picnic with local snacks before returning to Savonlinna. The remainder of the day is at leisure for optional activities like paddle-boating, canoeing, or simply lounging by the water.

Day 4 – Olavinlinna Castle & Family Explorations

After breakfast, visit Olavinlinna Castle — a spectacular 15th-century fortress set on an island in Lake Saimaa. Explore the battlements, discover castle stories, and capture memorable photos. Day 5 – Island Picnic & Swimming

Today, take a private boat to a scenic picnic island on Lake Saimaa where your family can spread blankets, enjoy a prepared picnic, and play by the shore.
